Rabbi Kalman Samuels’ memoir about his son who was rendered blind and deaf during infancy has received international publicity

I am honored that my book has been so well received in Japan. It is amazing to see how people from different countries and backgrounds share common human experiences and relate to Shalva’s story”

— Rabbi Kalman Samuels

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL, June 24, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Rabbi Kalman Samuels’ memoir about his son who was rendered blind and deaf during infancy has received international publicity; most recently published in Japanese and circulated among Japanese government personalities and sold in bookstores across Japan.

“I am very delighted and moved to visit the Shalva Center and I am looking forward to reading Kalman Samuels’ book,” said Japanese Ambassador to Israel Koichi Mizushima following his visit with Samuels. “I am grateful to Shalva for the opportunity to come and see this amazing center and their work from up close.”

Samuels' memoir called Dreams Never Dreamed, tells about his son Yossi who was injured during infancy and became blind, deaf, and acutely hyperactive and the incredible story behind his breakthrough to communication which inspired the development of Shalva, the organization established by Samuels and his wife Malki that has become one of the largest centers for disability care in the world. The $70 million Shalva National Center serves thousands of people with disabilities and is an internationally recognized leader in the field of disability care with inclusion projects, like the Shalva Band, inspiring millions across the globe.

Today, a Japanese delegation, headed by Japan’s Ambassador Mizushima and Rabbi Abraham Cooper Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, visited the Shalva Center in Jerusalem to meet Kalman Samuels and to experience first-hand his life’s work which has inspired many Japanese readers, among them prominent activists and policy makers. The Japanese delegation also met with Yossi Samuels and had an inspiring conversation mediated with sign language in the palm of his hand.

“It is all about making connections,” says Rabbi Cooper. “The fact that a Japanese Ambassador is coming to visit an Israeli non-profit for disability care is an important milestone. I believe it is just the beginning of various partnerships and exchange of knowledge between Israel and Japan in this field.”

Samuels’ memoir was translated to Japanese by Kinue Tokudome, a Japanese writer and human rights activist who was inspired by her visit to Shalva in 2019. Tokudome says there is a great deal to learn from Shalva's pioneering role in advancing the care and inclusion of people with disabilities and believes that the people of Japan will find important relevance in the book's messages of hope and human dignity.

After translating Samuels’ book on her own initiative, Tokudome tweeted about it on her Jews and Japan Twitter feed. The Japanese version of Samuels’ book was published by Japan-based publisher Isaku Taniuchi earlier this month and is now available in bookstores and online in Japan.

Pennsylvania and New Jersey Celebrate Men’s Health in June

Communities Across the Globe Honor Men’s Health Month

UNITED STATES, June 24, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the cities Bayonne, Elizabeth, Hackensack, Newark, and Trenton, has issued a proclamation celebrating men’s health and fatherhood in June, helping educate men, boys, and their families about disease prevention, timely screenings, healthy lifestyles, and positive family relationships.

Pennsylvania and New Jersey proclamations can be found here.

The importance of this effort was also highlighted by a statement from the White House.

Raising awareness of the need for men and boys to live healthy lifestyles is critical to their wellbeing. The life expectancy for men is five years less than women, and men also have higher rates of death from cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Moreover, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports women are 100% more likely to visit their doctor for annual exams and preventative services than men.

Report cards on the status of male health in each state can be found at the State of Men's Health website (http://www.stateofmenshealth.com/). Proclamations from cities and states be found at www.MensHealthMonth.com

“The Coronavirus has reminded all of us about the crucial importance of our
health. In the spirit of Men’s Health Month, our healthcare system needs to
provide greater opportunities for men and boys to have check-ups, health
screenings, and vaccinations” said Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis.

“We applaud officials in their states for helping raise awareness of the health issues facing men and their families by recognizing this year’s men’s health awareness period,” said Ana Fadich, MPH, CHES, Vice President, Men’s Health Network. “Communities around the globe continue to promote the health and well-being of men and boys throughout the month of June. We hope this year’s awareness period will help men and their families be more mindful of their health starting with a doctor’s appointment.”

Across the country, hundreds of health care professionals, private corporations, faith-based organizations, community groups, and other interested organizations help plan activities and events that focus on men’s health during June, and throughout the year. On June 18, MHN encourages participation in using the #ShowUsYourBlue hashtag on social media where participants raised awareness about men’s health issues by Wearing BLUE.

For ideas and free resources in both English and Spanish, visit www.MensHealthMonth.org

Men’s Health Month grew out of National Men’s Health Week, which was enacted by Congress. The legislation was sponsored by Senator Bob Dole and Congressman Bill Richardson and was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on May 31, 1994.

Men’s Health Month and Men’s Health Week are organized by Men's Health Network MHN), an international non-profit organization whose mission is to reach men, boys, and their families where they live, work, play, and pray with health prevention messages and tools, screening programs, educational materials, advocacy opportunities, and patient navigation. Profound and relatable; written with humor, honesty and hope. ”

— Be The Match®

SACRAMENTO, CA, UNITED STATES, June 24, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Launching today with Zoom event sponsored by Capital Books in Sacramento, LIVING WITH GRAFT-VERSUS-HOST DISEASE: HOW I STOPPED FIGHTING CANCER AND STARTED HEALING by Brad Buchanan, PhD, is an intimate and groundbreaking account of managing a sometimes-devastating disease. No other current books combine a synoptic account of GvHD symptoms and treatments with a patient’s own story of surviving.

Any interested party can register for the event at CapitalBooksOnK.com/Events. The launch begins at 6 PM Eastern/3PM Pacific.

LIVING WITH GRAFT-VERSUS-HOST-DISEASE tells the story of the author’s survival against the odds, outlines his often rocky path to long-term recovery, and offers unique and important insights into acute and chronic GvHD. Using poetry as a touchstone, it draws on the author’s own experiences as a two-time blood cancer survivor and stem-cell transplant recipient to encourage GvHD patients to move beyond the “warrior” mentality promoted by much of the current cultural discourse surrounding disease, treatment, and survivorship. It also advocates a full understanding of the current best practices in the treatment of GvHD, an attitude of acceptance and emotional openness, and the practice of writing as a self-healing activity.

Authorities in the field praise the book:

Brad Buchanan has produced a detailed narration of his personal battle with lymphoma and ultimately graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). He takes a no-holds-barred approach that leaves little to the imagination. His command of the language and mix of prose and poetry bring to life the good, the bad and the terrifying components of his journey with a rare and particularly intense form of GvHD.
—Joseph M. Tuscano, MD, Interim Director of Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Transplantation and deLeuze Endowed Professor of Medicine, UC Davis Cancer Center

While recovery from transplant is unique for everyone, first-hand experiences help to tear down the walls of isolation. We are incredibly grateful to people like Dr. Buchanan who share their personal story. His is both profound and relatable; written with humor, honesty and hope.
Be The Match®

Dr. Buchanan provides a frank and engaging account of his personal journey through blood cancer treatment and the repercussions of living with graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) as a result of that treatment. He unmasks both the physical and mental impact of GvHD on himself and his caregivers and provides a reminder that becoming cancer free is not always the end of the pilgrimage.
—Emily Hopewell, PhD, Director of Cell and Gene Therapy Manufacturing, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical and Molecular Genetics, Indiana University

Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) remains a significant cause of morbidity and non-relapse mortality for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT). This book tells a story of courage and overcoming the formidable challenges of acute and chronic GvHD. It will help physicians, nurses, and scientists genuinely understand the story of patients’ difficulties living with GvHD. As a scientist working on uncoupling GvHD from GVL (graft-versus-leukemia), I encourage every citizen to read this book, which ought to convince our politicians and policymakers to support more research into GvHD.
—Dr. Mobin Karimi, Assistant Professor of Immunology and Microbiology, SUNY Upstate Medical University

A native of Canada, Brad Buchanan holds degrees in English Literature from McGill University (BA, 1994), the University of Toronto (MA, 1995), and Stanford University (PhD, 2001). He taught British and Postcolonial Literature, as well as Creative Writing, at Sacramento State University (where he also served as English Department Chair) until his retirement in 2016. His poetry, fiction, and scholarly articles have appeared in more than 200 journals, among them Canadian Literature, the Journal of Modern Literature, The Portland Review, The Seattle Review, Twentieth-Century Literature, and The Wisconsin Review. His first two published book-length collections of poetry (The Miracle Shirker, Poet’s Corner Press, 2005) and Swimming the Mirror: Poems for My Daughter, Roan Press 2009), both received Writer’s Digest awards. His third book of poems, The Scars, Aligned (A Cancer Narrative) appeared from Finishing Line Press in February, 2019. He has also published two scholarly books.

Dr. Buchanan was diagnosed with a rare form of T-cell lymphoma in February 2015 and, after chemotherapy and radiation treatments, underwent a stem cell transplant in 2016. The stem cell transplant, which resulted in an unexpectedly acute case of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and a near-total loss of vision, also entailed 129 days in the hospital’s transplant unit and a lengthy recovery period at home. In late 2016 he was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma induced by the Epstein-Barr virus; after participating in a clinical trial, he was declared cancer-free in 2017, and he is currently still in remission. He has also recovered his eyesight after having corneal transplants and cataract surgery in each eye. He still suffers from chronic GvHD, which has prevented him from returning to teaching, and now devotes his time to writing, as well as to facilitating workshops for writers dealing with issues related to illness, disability, and recovery. He lives in California with his wife, Kate Washington, and their two daughters.

AUTZ Token Launched Successfully on June 12th in Atlanta, Georgia and the Cryptocurrency Audit Results Displayed on June 18th, 2021

Blockchain is the tech. Bitcoin is merely the first mainstream manifestation of its potential.”

— Marc Kenigsberg, founder of BitcoinChasers.com

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, June 24, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The AUTZ Token event for the autism community was held at the Hilton Garden INN at 3342 Tower Place Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30326-1024, United States on June 12th, 2021. The event was planned for 6pm-9pm EST, and followed by a barbecue at Sweet Water Park in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on June 13th, 2021, from 2-9pm.

The audit date results for AUTZ Token were available on June 18th, 2021. With the audit available, AUTZ Token is listed as a community-driven DeFi token on the current Ethereum Blockchain, validating its contract. Having a cryptocurrency audit completed assists in verifying the legitimacy of a token and how it is accessible throughout the cryptocurrency market and wallet industry.

Within 3 days of its original launch, AUTZ Token was successfully and gratifyingly listed on CoinGecko, a major cryptocurrency market platform to share and swap information regarding digital tokens and coins today.

The current listed value of AUTZ Tokens on CoinGecko as of June 22nd, 2021, is $0.000000005204 per coin, with a $12,305 24-hour trading volume. In total, the initial release of AUTZ Tokens was one quadrillion units. Additionally, the token also has a genesis burn rate of 30%.

"Blockchain is the tech. Bitcoin is merely the first mainstream manifestation of its potential." – Marc Kenigsberg, founder of BitcoinChasers.com and his podcast, "The Conversation"

Since its official launch, AUTZ tokens are available on traditional cryptocurrency platforms like Uniswap, DEXT, and Etherscan and will be made available to venues including Folgory, 1INCH, and Balancer among others in the near future. With access to plenty of tokens, the entire autism community has a chance to truly create its own digital economy to better improve the lives of those living with autism and those caring for those who require additional autism resources and support.

Anyone who has a loved one who is receiving or seeking autism treatment or who has experience with autism themselves can benefit from AUTZ tokens. When an individual completes their purchase of AUTZ tokens for themselves, other members and shareholders of AUTZ tokens will receive 3% of the total transaction, motivating and incentivizing users to remain actively involved with the growth and expansion of AUTZ tokens. Rewards from the AUTZ token community will be paid weekly to keep the community of investors and donators in the loop and as actively engaged with autism foundations and resources as possible.

The AUTZ project differs from traditional blockchain cryptocurrencies as its overarching theme is giving back and building others up who have invested time and money into the community and the coin itself. For those who become a part of the AUTZ token community, real benefits and tangible rewards will quickly become available as more members accumulate.

Even after the 3% of all transactions are deducted and redistributed among all AUTZ holders, AUTZ continues to donate and give back even more to the ASD community. In addition to redistributing 3% of all transactions to AUTZ token holders, the AUTZ project will also donate 10% of the total AUTZ token supply to ASD-related charities and organizations to provide additional access to necessary resources within the ASD community.

As the AUTZ project continues to grow and expand, it will also donate to ASD-related causes, organizations, and foundations. Each time the AUTZ project donates to various charities and organizations that are currently in need of additional funding, each token holder of AUTZ will also receive an additional boost in their current holdings. By providing boosts each time transactions and donations are completed, all AUTZ token holders are incentivized to keep participating and investing in the coin itself.

Supporting ASD causes is not only a way to raise awareness of the needs of the ASD community as well as the needs of ASD caregivers, but it is also a way to help provide real boosts and resources. By connecting with various charities and organizations, the AUTZ project is able to facilitate resources and connections that individuals may not be aware of in their hometown or state, depending on where they reside.

By minimizing the risk of wealthy profiteers interfering with the system using cryptocurrency and innovative blockchain infrastructure, the AUTZ project extends the ability to garner wealth and maintain a stake in the project for the everyday average individual.

The AUTZ project is dedicated to partnering up with other autism foundations and organizations to better improve the overall quality of life of those who are autistic and those who require more assistance, guidance, and resources. Whether partnering up with Autism Speaks or working together with local charities and autism foundations in the community, the AUTZ project strives to reach as many individuals and groups as possible.

Each of the founding members of the AUTZ project is connected with ASD in some way or another in their day-to-day lives, making them ideal candidates for leading an ASD-centric digital cryptocurrency. Ultimately, the goal of the AUTZ project is to develop and cultivate a sustainable cryptocurrency that is not solely driven and focused on capitalism and greed, but more on providing a stable community of resources by giving back to others.

The missions of the AUTZ token project include reducing the overall burden of the cost of research and development when it comes to ASD treatments, therapies, and even various medications available on the market. Its other goals include providing resources to those who may have a child who is autistic without contributing to their current financial burden.

Finally, the founders of the AUTZ project are adamant about providing a medium through various types and works of art that will help to benefit autistic children, regardless of where they land on the spectrum. By banding together and lending a helping hand to one another, the ASD community can be raised up and showered with love and support.

For those wondering is cryptocurrency the future, it does not take much to see that the industry is ever-evolving, skyrocketing, and becoming more commonplace. With the ability to complete a cryptocurrency audit, more coins are arriving on the market each day. With more cryptocurrencies hitting the market each day, it is no surprise that charity and cause-centric cryptocurrencies and industries are beginning to bloom.
